The Driftwood Spars is our beloved pub here in Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes. A rambling, cosy and historic freehouse, it was built in the 1650s using huge beams (or spars) salvaged from local shipwrecks.

The pub’s many fire-side nooks are popular winter retreats for dog walkers and outdoor enthusiasts, and in the summer the beer garden is busy with visitors enjoying the sights and sounds of the Cornish coast.

The pub has 15 comfortable bedrooms and hosts famous beer festivals as well as weddings, community events and live music throughout the year.

As you might expect, a well-kept beer offering is something of a speciality at The Driftwood Spars. Our freshly brewed ‘in house’ beers have only to make their way over the road, where they are cellared, tapped and appreciated with zero ‘beer miles’!

However, it has always been policy at The Driftwood Spars to showcase a wide variety of beers from other Cornish breweries and indeed all around the world. Landlady Louise puts her wide-ranging knowledge to good work, with a revolving selection and regular guest beers. With a food menu packed with local produce changing seasonally, you can be sure of a first-class encounter with Cornwall’s famously good food and drink at ‘The Drifty.’

And the best way to experience all this? Why not stay the night in one of the pub’s cosy rooms and wake up to the sound of the sea, and a hearty Cornish breakfast to set you up for the day ahead? For those with a keen interest in beer and brewing, we recommend joining a Brewery Tour during your stay or booking one of our Brew Days for a proper hands-on experience.
